Lions Mane, Sand Wash Basin, Colorado, 2014
While color is rare for me, this gorgeous caramel colored stallion muted against his desert environment felt warm and buttery. The soft palette is something I have quietly worked on for years and every once in awhile the perfect image fits the mold.
He has been a favorite each time I have visited the area. He smart, very wise and keeps his mares close by and out of the fray.
Sand Wash Basin covers 157,000 acres of desert in North Western Colorado. These horse carry a high similarity to Spanish Iberian breeds.
